We never intended to live in Indiana during the winter, but here we are, on January 12th, STILL HERE in West Lafayette. We've been stalled by some work that needs done on the truck, and finding liability insurance for our tiny house while traveling.... and now possibly icy weather & unsafe road conditions.
We've had to dump our long time insurance provider (USAA) because they refuse to extend our liability insurance to our tiny house (their reasoning: because our house is permanently affixed to the trailer). Major bummer, since we've always loved USAA. We've been calling around trying to find some agency, any agency, that will get us covered, and we've found one that looks promising! We should find out today about the insurance, and all the truck work should be completed by tomorrow! Which means, as long as we don't get snowed/iced in, we are taking off this Thursday morning!!! We are really excited!
We've been busy getting things ready for the move, saying our goodbyes, and starting homeschool for our daughter's second semester of Kindergarten. Her little brother gets to join in when he wants as well. After some focused work in math and writing today the kids decided they wanted to brave the cold despite the frigid conditions (feels like -12F with 32mph wind gusts). Even the cat thinks they're crazy.
Hopefully, this will be the last of the freezing weather we will see for a while!
