Tweaks, Add-Ons & Fixes

After some tweaks, add ons and fixes to the truck, hitch and house back in Kentucky, we took off for the second leg of our trip, to Sweet Home Alabama (that's actually what the official state sign says as you enter AL)!

We added some new stabilizing bars for the hitch to help with the inevitable sway on the road as semis pass.  Aaron also got some new hardware to safely secure the decks and awnings while in transit.

I also added some super high tech reflectors to the back and sides of the house since we now realize that driving in the dark is probably going to happen more times than not.

We also bought a new sewage connection system so that we can easily hookup to any RV park.

This time we made better time, as both Aaron and I are gaining confidence in handling the towing.  We traveled straight through Tennessee (as both Aaron and I have both seen plenty of TN already, and we'll probably bring the kids back one day).

As we entered Alabama, we stopped at the very first rest stop (always the best ones)!  This one had a freaking rocket!  :D

I'm pretty excited for our stay here in Huntsville to see the space museum!  I've been wanting to visit this place ever since my oldest sister got to go with her school class back in the early 90's.  My turn! :D

  1. Where do you go from there? Montgomery is a treasure trove of history and a surprisingly beautiful city. Even though your children are young it can make quite an impression. We have a friend there who was named one of the four white heroes of the Civil Rights movement for legally representing so many cases.

    1. That's cool! We're going to an AL lake next, I'll have to see how close we'll be to Montgomery.
