Our Adventure

The following map is our tentative travel route across the United States.  Our ultimate destination at the moment is Oregon.  Once we get there, we'll stay for a while and re-evaluate what in the world we're doing.  This is Trip PLAN A:

We had to leave Indiana in the middle of winter, so that was very limiting.  We had to first head straight South and follow the nicest weather to guarantee a safe trip West. We plan to see the national parks and other local attractions that are along this route.

We set off on January 14th, 2015 from our parking spot in West Lafayette, Indiana.  Here are all the stops we've made so far on our adventure and the cool things we've seen or done:

1) Cave City, Kentucky: Mammoth Cave National Park
2) Huntsville, Alabama: U.S. Space & Rocket Center
3) Demopolis, Alabama: Foscue Creek Park
4) Pensacola, Florida: Gulf Islands National Seashore, Fort Pickins, National Naval Aviation Museum
5) Ocean Springs, Misississippi: Davis Bayou Gulf Islands National Seashore, Biloxi Beach and Lighthouse
6) New Orleans, Louisiana: The French Quarter, Jackson Square
7) Lafayette, Louisiana: stopover
8) Brookeland Texas: Twin Dikes Park, Sam Rayburn Lake, Angelina & Davey Crocket National Forests
9) Taylor, Texas: Granger Lake, Downtown Austin, Texas
10) San Angelo, Texas: San Angelo State Park
11) Carlsbad, New Mexico: Carlsbad Caverns National Park
12) Radium Springs, New Mexico: Leasburg Dam State Park, Las Cruces Farmers & Crafts Market
13) Benson, Arizona: Tucson, AZ, Saguaro National Forest, Tombstone, AZ
14) Cordes Lake, Arizona: stopover
15) Williams, Arizona: Grand Canyon, Grand Canyon Railway, Bearizona
16) Gallup, New Mexico: Meteor Crater, Petrified Forest National Park (on our way to Gallup)
17) Santa Fe, New Mexico: Santa Fe Plaza, Canyon Road, Santa Fe Farmers Market
18) Colorado Springs, CO: Pike's Peak, Garden of the Gods, Red Rock Canyon, Palmer Park
19) Loveland, CO: Roosevelt National Forest, Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park
20)

UPDATE 1:  If you haven't noticed, our trip has taken an unexpected turn NorthEast after stop #13 in Arizona, we changed to Trip PLAN B:

UPDATE 2:  After stop #17, in New Mexico, we were running low on travel funds (after truck work, new trailer tires, and an ER visit), so we went on to plan C:

  2. I saw the Big Mini House in Las Cruces, NM.... I wish I could have taken you to a school that was right down the street from your gas pit stop. I would have loved to show our students your wonderful tiny house...
